- Technical Talks and Webinars
During the phase-1 2011, we conducted technical talks of topics ranging from “Odometers
in CPU”, “Portable Document formats”, “Next Generation Memories”,
to “Cloud Computing” to even “Google plus Vs Facebook”.
Two webinars were conducted
and organized exclusively for IEEE members and one for Non-IEEE members. The
topics of these webinars include – “High Performance Computing for solutions
for Complex problems” (Sponsored by Microsoft), “Future Data storage
systems” (Sponsored by IBM & ThinkFriday University) and “Exploring
the IEEE Xplore” by IEEE Client Services Manger.
- Non Technical Events
On the Non technical side of events conducted by the student branch, we
conducted a visit to an orphanage at Chempanthoti, as a part of Charity
event organized by the Women in Engineering group of IEEE SB
VJEC.The day was spent with the inmates and various programmes were carried out
over there. Solutions regarding various technical aspects were also provided.
For the first time, a friendship
day was celebrated by the IEEE Members for foster the bond friendship among
the members, along with the professional relationship maintained by them.
- Participation In Inter-College Events Participation of our members in inter-college events at Kerala level was highly encouraged by the student branch. Even though sudden announce of university examinations forced the members to opt out of various events in the last moment, the enthusiastic volunteers participated for
HUB
5 Congress held at MES Engineering College.
All
Kerala Students Congress 2011 at College of Engineering Chengannur. Our
team secured third place for the paper presentation held over there.
There were also a good number
of participants for the All Kerala Essay Competition from the student
branch.
- Workshops Organized The student branch jointly organized two workshops –
Ethical
Hacking and Information Security Workshop with CSE Dept
PIC Microcontroller
workshop and training with ECE Dept.
Both the workshop became a
grand success this year with the college.
- New Initiatives
New initiatives of the student
branch include a Medical-Engineering project TechJeeva which is in its
incubation stage. The active volunteers of the student branch are aspiring to
make the project a national level. The student branch for the first time has
given nomination for Student enterprise award for a live project on “Bore
well Rescue Robot” by IEEE members of 4th
year.
